Join the Jasper County 250 Committee for a full weekend of Revolutionary War living history. Experience immersive encampments, live cannon and musket demonstrations, and interactive activities for all ages. Walk the grounds, meet reenactors, and see history come to life in an engaging, memorable way.

Hardeeville Honors the Battle of Purrysburg

Hardeeville honored the Battle of Purrysburg with a dedication ceremony at Millstone Landing, along the river where local resident Wes Goforth says his ancestor fought as a Continental regular.

New educational signs now share the story of the battle and other Revolutionary War history, with the Daughters of the American Revolution underscoring why these moments matter for the community.

Wonderful Colonial Historical Site
My husband and I visited Old House and Thomas Heyward, Jr Tomb, a former colonial-era plantation. Thomas Heyward, Jr was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The beautiful grounds along the salt marsh and majestic oak trees make it an awesome place to visit. I highly recommend detouring off I95 to include it in your trip.

Such a beautiful spot It was cooler by the river, and there was a great picnic pavilion there. It was well worth the stop to learn the history of the area.
